About Us

The Perry County Lutheran Historical Society (PCLHS) was founded in 1910 to care for the 1839 Log College Seminary (the first Concordia Seminary.)  It is the mission of PCLHS to document, preserve, and interpret the 1839 German Lutheran Immigration history in Perry County, Missouri.  The site includes: The Log College Seminary, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Christiane Loeber Cabin, and a new state-of-the-art museum and family research library.  The museum and research library were added to the complex beginning in 2005 including a Main Exhibits gallery, visitor center, and the First Church Building Gallery (1845.) We are a non-profit institution, serving an international audience. PCLHS would like to thank the members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Altenburg (1867) for allowing our visitors to include a guided tour of the church as a part of their museum experience.

Bus tours are welcome with ample bus parking available. Our site is accessible. Guided tours are available upon request and take about 1.5 hrs. Admission is free.

The museum gift shop features regional arts and crafts, regional history books, genealogical supplies, and other regional treasures.

The Zion Roots Family Research Library is open daily.  Please call ahead for research assistance, and so our research assistants can prepare materials for your visit.  We do not charge research fees.  The library is free to the public.  See the "Zion Roots" library information on the "Home" page access.
