What a terrific day we had at the museum. I'm pleased to inform you that we reached our goal of 5000 patrons!!! That is an increase of 1,000 people-Glory to God! We had a nice flow of patrons to see the Christmas trees, and a couple from Texas who also wanted to check out all of our historical displays. I had a nice late afternoon with Wilmar Degenhardt working on the Zion Roots research portal. We used one of his family names, "Engert," and took it through the phases. It was fun, and I can't believe how much time it is going to save people--it will keep them from having to take a trip to Germany to find their family parish records! Wilmar donated a very nice start on the Engert family tree--what a blessing he is! His wisdom is at the root of much of my success, and his mentoring is invaluable to me.
We received congratulatory comments from the Missouri State Archives office for our NEH grant. It will be so wonderful to move forward with the preservation efforts of our terrific archival collection, and to have our lower level of storage more professionally organized.
I want to thank Gladys Engert for holding down the museum tomorrow. Come and see her, or give her a call and thank her and wish her Happy New Year! She is such an enthusiastic "people person"--the PERFECT docent.
I wish all of you a Happy New Year. It is an honor for me to serve you at the museum, and I have high hopes for 2010.
Take Care, Carla Jordan
