We had a wonderful group of interns with us today--thank God for our support from Southeast Missouri State University and Dr. Dieter Jedan's students. Stephanie Ficken is working hard on the Trinity Cemetery data base. Heather Hays, our Public Relations intern, worked on the 2010 Conference Webpage information, and helped me field phone calls and plan the fieldtrip. It is so encouraging to have these young people here who are all so eager and generous with their efforts. Our mission is easier to accomplish with their help.
We had our beloved Wittenberg cousins "in the house" today. They are a group of folks related to the Kieninger's in Wittenberg, who come together to enjoy good stories, food, and fun every spring and autumn. We have grown quite attached to all of them. They were so excited to hear that we have made progress on putting up the Wittenberg identifying signage. I will contribute more in the blog about this wonderful project, soon.
We also had Ret. Pastor Merlen & Nancy Wegener who brought along two friends--Ken & Dorothy Welther--from their home in LaFayette, Indiana. Our Pastor Benkendorf, from Frohna, and his wife were in the museum at the time, and they got to have a nice chat. We have had the great opportunity to meet so many pastors from around the country the past five years.
Each day here is full of more blessings than I can describe. I'm so glad that my dear friend, and our president Bob Schmidt had successful oral surgery this morning. His beatiful wife, Diane, came in to let me know everything went well. Also, it was lovely to see Glen Borgfield and Gerard Fiehler working so hard with our intern, Stephanie, on the cemetery project. There is so much dedication to preserving this history amongst our regional people. Finally, I just found out from my daughter, Lilly, that her mid-term grades are all "A's." I am so pleased with your hard work, and dedication to your education, my dear Lilly. She has ordered a special celebration dinner tonight after she gets off work: angel hair spaghetti, with meat sauce, garlic bread, and salad. I'm on my way to the grocery store to get the ingredients! Take Care, Carla Jordan
